Great photo. I grew up, as did every Australian family with enough money after WW2, in a detached house on a quarter acre block. There were some blocks of flats being built, but they were largely Housing Commission facilities for needy families and new immigrants.
Imagine my pleasure in finding proper houses in Britain that were not flats but were not detached. Terraced living is a perfect compromise.
